This page includes all upcoming and past opportunities for the public to get involved in Morris’ NY Forward program. Please note that all Local Planning Committee (LPC) meetings are open to the public, and time will be reserved for public comment at the end of each LPC meeting. For public events and LPC meetings, summaries, presentations, and agendas will be prepared and made available as they are completed.
Of note: A number of calendar items are geared toward assisting potential project sponsors (as well as of general interest to the public) including any upcoming NYS webinars.

Local Planning Committee Meeting #2
The second meeting of the Local Planning Committee (LPC) is scheduled for September 15, 2026, at the Morris Central School in the Cafeteria from 6:00-8:00PM.
This meeting is open to all members of the public, with time reserved at the end of the meeting for public comment.
NY Forward Project Finance Workshop
Join the project team on September 17, 2026 from 2:00-3:30PM to learn the financial planning tools needed to move NY Forward projects from concept to implementation. This webinar will provide practical guidance on project feasibility, pro forma development, financing considerations, and business planning strategies for project sponsors and community stakeholders.

This meeting is open to all members of the public, with time reserved at the end of the meeting for public comment.

Decarbonization 101 Webinar
Please join the project team on September 10, 2026 from 1:00 - 2:00PM for an introduction to decarbonization strategies used in NY Forward private projects including improving building insulation, updating to high-efficiency windows, or installing water-source heat pumps. These methods will help reduce carbon emissions and costs for building designs and construction.
Attendees only need to register for one webinar. The same content will be provided at each session.

Public Workshop #1
The first public workshop for the Village of Morris NY Forward will provide an overview of the NY Forward program, planning process, and provide information for potential project sponsors.
This will be held at the Morris Central School in the Library from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

DRI/NY Forward and Historic Preservation Webinar
This webinar (taking place on August 20, 2026 from 1:00 - 2:30PM) is designed for prospective project sponsors participating in the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Round 9 and NY Forward Round 4. During this session, participants will gain an overview of the New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) review process as it relates to the DRI and NY Forward programs.
They will also learn how to determine whether a property is listed on or eligible for the State and National Registers of Historic Places, as well as become familiar with basic historic preservation best practices and common pitfalls to avoid.

Local Planning Committee Meeting #1
The first of several meetings with the Local Planning Committee (LPC) will be held on Monday July 27th from 6 to 8 pm at the Morris Firehouse, Station 13, 117 Main Street, Morris, NY 13808.
The LPC is tasked with guiding the NY Forward planning process for the Village of Morris and participating in project identification and evaluation to ultimately recommend a slate of projects to the State for funding consideration. During this meeting the Local Planning Committee will learn more about the NY Forward planning process and participate in a visioning session that will help to establish a vision framework to guide their decision-making.
